Mike Austin

Hi I'm Mike Austin, and it is my pleasure along with Matt Z to entertain and inform you every weekday morning on WTAQ.

Ever since I was eight years old and got my first japanese transistor radio I have been fascinated by the power of radio and the theater of the mind it creates. Since November of 1980 I have been privileged to be associated with Midwest Communications a family run radio business that has given me the tools and support to enhance my radio career which actually began four years earlier, as I shared radio duties in both Kewaunee and Oshkosh before coming to Green Bay to work for both Midwest Communications and WFRV-TV. During my years at WTAQ, I have worked with many talented wonderful people and was blessed to have a mentor like Eddie Jason who was a Hall of Fame Broadcaster and just a wonderful individual.

Family and community are also very important to me. I've been married to my best friend Connie for 34 years and we've been fortunate enough to have 3 great kids who are now making their own mark in life. It's also been my pleasure to work with numerous committees in the community along with working with various service clubs school programs, scouts, youth sports programs and my church. My dad taught me years ago that the most valuable thing you can give is your time, and I've tried to giveback to an area that I feel is second to none in this great country of ours.

Besides spending time with my family, I treasure my relationship with the agricultural community of Northeastern Wisconsin and really enjoy my time on the banquet circuit. I'm also a big sports fan and even though I do live in Green Bay, my blood is Badger Red and I'm of huge fan of my alma matter's football and basketball teams.

I want to thank you for the opportunity to inform and entertain you each morning and simply put, the goal for Mike and Matt in the morning is to make sure you get all the information you need, plus a laugh or two to start your day.
