MADISON, Wis. (WTAQ) - The state government will urge Wisconsin CEO’s not to move their business meetings to places like Las Vegas. At the Governor’s Conference on Tourism Monday, Democrat Jim Doyle unveiled a campaign called “Meetings Mean Business for Wisconsin.” The departments of tourism and commerce will encourage the heads of companies headquartered in the Badger State to hold their conventions in the state – as well as trade shows, board meetings, and training sessions.
Doyle says it would help those firms by boosting tax revenues, as well as preserving tourist-related jobs. The annual tourism conference is in Milwaukee this year. About 800 people are attending.
