MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WTAQ) - Republican gubernatorial candidate Mark Neumann submitted petitions with 5,000 signatures Monday against the health care reform package now in Congress. Neumann carried a 2 foot stack of papers into Congresswoman Gwen Moore’s office in Milwaukee – and he said the proposed health package would result in more government spending and higher taxes. Neumann, a former congressman, said he would try to block a health care bill from taking effect in Wisconsin if he’s elected in November.

He also said he would support a proposed state constitutional amendment to preserve private health care options and patient choice. Neumann, who’s now a homebuilder in Waukesha County, says he understands that some cannot afford health care. But he says he’s heard almost no support for the package that’s pending on Capitol Hill.
