DANE COUNTY, Wis. (WTAQ) - Republicans failed Wednesday to get U.S. House Democrat Tammy Baldwin removed from this fall’s election ballot.
The Young Republicans of Dane County said Baldwin acted improperly when she listed her campaign office instead of her home as the address on her nomination papers.
Elections’ officials have allowed it in the past. That’s because Baldwin is openly gay, and she has had threats since she was first elected to Congress in 1998. She’s running for her 7th two-year term in the House this fall.
The Government Accountability Board was considering a number of ballot challenges Wednesday. The board said Republican Paris Procopis could not get on the ballot, for not having enough valid nominating signatures. Procopis was running for the Assembly seat held by Milwaukee Democrat David Cullen.
