Kobussen Buses Headed To Winter Olympics
KAUKAUNA, Wis. (WTAQ) - Athletes and fans are not the only ones from Wisconsin to take part in the Winter Olympics that start Friday in Vancouver Canada. 5 buses and 10 drivers from Kobussen of Kaukauna will move fans and teams to and from events in the mountains. The company learned about the busing opportunity from a co-op run by Trailways. Kobussen will be paid for its services during the Games – but the company paid its own way for the vehicles and drivers to get to western Canada.
They also took chains so they don’t get stuck in the snowy mountains. Kobussen motorcoach manager Larry Brincks says it’s rare for his company to be involved in something like the Olympics – and he calls it an “incredible honor.” He said the drivers and vehicles have completed the required paperwork, safety inspections, and terrorism training. And he said the drivers got a refresher course when they left for their actual Olympic duty. The Games will run through the end of February.
