We the People Posted March 30, 2010 by Jerry Bader

Near the end of today's show we discussed the media-labelling of the 9 crazies in Michigan as "a Christian Militia." Tomorrow I want to discuss how this case is going to lead to the left trying to paint all conservative activism as extreme. Check out this video. How much you want to bet a lot of these ideas will be considered "extreme" in the days to come?

The Obama conundrum on KSM

KSM Trial Political Conumdrum for Obama Posted March 29, 2010 by Jerry Bader

What this Politico story highlights is how this is an entirely political calculation for President Obama. He is so concerned about placating the liberal base and trying KSM in a civilian court that he's tied in knots. Further, trying KSM in a civilian court is what Obama wants to do, but realizes it'll hand a national security win to Republicans in advance of the fall elections. Obama's problem is deep down he knows that which he believes to be "right" isn't the "right" thing to do in the name of national security.

Republicans should make hay on this because it shows the bi-polar nature of the Obama administration on National Security. They love to crow about killing on sight suspected terrorists in the battlefield with drones, but demand on coddling suspected terrorists in custody.

Walker Campaign Responds Quickly to Zoo Interchange Posted March 29, 2010 by Jerry Bader

The Scott Walker for Governor campaign already has this website up to point out the responsibility that Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, Democratic candidate for governor, has for the emergency shutdown Friday of the heavily traveled northbound U.S. Highway 45 bridge through the Zoo Interchange in Milwaukee. A release from the Walker campaign also says:

While thousands of commuters are waiting in traffic along the Barrett Bypass today, new electronic billboards will be greeting them at I94/Hwy 100 and on Hwy 45/Silver Spring just north of the Zoo interchange.  Sponsored by the Scott Walker campaign for Governor, the signs read, “Tired of Traffic?  Blame Barrett” and includes the address of a new website.

The PDF of the Barrett letter concerning this interchange from 2005 is pretty damaging. And the "Barrett Bypass" is a name that could stick. The importanant thing here, in my mind, is for this to grow beyond a Milwaukee, Walker/Barrett issue and also to include the reckless behavior of current Governor Jim Doyle in raiding the transportation fund(which Walker does), and just in general point out the liberal fixation with moving away from highway transportation to "alternate" modes of transportation (rail), which led to this mess. I understand why Walker wants to pin this on Barrett, and there is much truth to that, but the bigger picture philosphy on the future of transportation held by the left that Barrret is beholden to should be a key campaign issue throughout the state during the governor's race this fall.

The Separation of Mosque and State Posted March 28, 2010 by Jerry Bader

An absolutely excellent piece about the current mosque controversy in Southern Sheboygan County. His point about intolerance toward Muslims in this country strengthening the radical Islamic fringe is well stated. I believe this is the best piece I've seen on this issue. Well worth the time to read it.

Annoy the Press-Gazette Posted March 28, 2010 by Jerry Bader

Vote early and often for Best of the Bay, using this link. Questions 43 and 45 are for radio show and radio station, but you need to vote in a minimum of 13 categories on the Entertainment and Leisure Ballot for your votes to count. This is the 4th year of the Best of the Bay and I've never even mentioned it on the air before, let alone campaign in this way. But given the PG's obvious frustration that I'm still on the air after last fall, I've decided to make an exception this year....I believe you can vote once a day.

Peggy Noonan on The Violence and Threats of Violence Posted March 27, 2010 by Jerry Bader

She contends leaders should stop "hitting the beehive with a stick." Her point is, yes people are angry it's our leaders making us angry. As people become angry as their freedom is stripped away, you will see more of this she argues. She also argues that these threats aren't new; but the left's publicizing of them is. Hoyer definitely used this for political gain. Noonan's right; threats come with the territory of public life, talk show hosts included. I was threatened last fall in advance of a tea party in Sheboygan. I made the organizers aware of it, but certainly never would have gone public with it at the time, and wouldn't have ever, except to make a point here.

Publiczing exacerbates the situation, and as I said on the air yesterday, it also could encourage liberals to do it in an effort to harm the other side. Noonan is right however, poilticians would do well to stop making people angry. It certainly doesn't justify the actions of anybody, on either side, who stoop to violence or threats of violence. But her point is politicians would do well to understand what they're doing to start this fire. And liberals would do well not to fan the flames.
